The ECU Stage1 for the mighty Giulia Quadrifoglio has been finally released, it is  top of the range of Alfa Romeo with its 2.9 liters biturbo engine producing 510hp.

This car has stole the heart of most of the petrolhead all over the world, especially looking at the technical details:

  • V6 engine projected by Ferrari engineer
  • Rear wheel drive
  • Electronic controlled limited slipping differential
  • 6 speed manual transmission or 8 speed sport automatic

The car you see in the pictures is one of the very first produced fitting 6MT transmission. The car has no special parts on it except a rear exhaust muffler to enhance the sound.

On dyno the test car showed all the 510hp and 600Nm of torque claimed by Alfa Romeo, a big satisfaction to see a car like this matching the Factory specs.

The tests has been done in our dyno room with SuperFlow 880E dyno, it is the cutting edge technology in this field to tune the most recent sport cars.

As a matter of fact our test room is one of the very few able to test the Giulia Quadrifoglio without all the issues related to the stability systems. On the majority of the dynamometer the recent generation sport cars (like Ford Focus RS for example) the safety sensors cuts the performance during dyno tests, making software development very slow.

This is not our case, thanks to a custom dyno calibration we can test this cars with no light on the dashboard and without resetting the errors after every dyno test.

The main target of the Stage1 was to set up a calibration to improve performance without affecting the reliability. We also gave lot of attention to the traction, we don’t want a car too powerful which is not able to put down that power on the road.

We achieved the goal with a very linear and progressive torque delivery with the stunning value of 716Nm at middle rpm. The max power is 563hp.

After the Stage1 the Giulia outperforms most of the sport cars on sale, remaining very easy to drive in spite of the increased power.

With 265hp and 350Nm of torque the Clubsport is the fastest Golf GTI built by VW.

The secret of this amazing power is the engine, the clubsport as a matter of fact shares the engine with the most powerful “R” version. The turbo is the same IHI IS38 fitted on the other fast hot-hatch of the VAG group (S3, Leon Cupra…).

On the club sport has also been introduced the new Overboost mode, which guarantees 10 seconds of additional 25hp and 30Nm of torque.

The Overboost is activated by pressing the button under the gas pedal. Once you have activated it you have to wait another 10″ to use it again.

With the stock ECU software in first and second gear the boost is limited to 10Nm after 4500 rpm.

We detected 290hp and 375Nm on the stock, which is pretty impressive for a FWD.

The car you see in the pictures fits a full sport exhaust by Milltek, with HJS 200 cell metallic catalytic converter and the VW Racing R600 intake kit.

The stage2 has been developed to maximize the benefit of the special parts fitted, the results are even over the expectations: 376hp and 469Nm of torque, obtained with 100RON fuel and Overboost activated.

The stage1 is also available for stock cars and permit to improve at 330hp the power and 445Nm the torque.

The tune can be customized according to the requests of the costumer, the options are:

  • Overboost increase values: you can decide the power boost in every gear and also the rev level to activate it. For example you can decide to deactivate it in first and second gear to improve traction (especially with stage2 calibration) and to receive 35Nm in the longer gears.
  • Overboost duration: we can make the overboost always available without waiting the 10″ from the first activation
  • Speed limiter OFF
  • Catalytic converter error light OFF (with sport exhaust)
  • Launch control rev setting (with DSG)
  • Launch control boost setting (with DSG)

On the Clubsport is recommended the purchase of the BIESSE Flasher, the device to reset the stock ECU and save you warranty. You can set the car back to original file when you go to your official dealer for the Service and restore the tuning file when you receive your car back.  The device can also manage more than 3 ECU tunes with different calibration to set up under your requests.

Alfa Romeo Giulia has been created to be a valid alternative to German competitors.

Our ECU tuning stage1 gives to the new Italian saloon a new weapon to fight against Audi, Mercedes and BMW.

On the 150hp version the power increase is massive: 210hp and over 530Nm of torque.

The 180hp gets the same values because it shares all the engine components with the 150hp version.

The torque is impressive at all rpms with a pulling force similar to the 3 liters diesel best engines.

The ZF transmission perfectly matches the new power with no issue on the gearbox.

Here in BIESSE Racing we are still going on with research of the ultimate performance on the Audi RS3. We have now released a new stage1 software update to improve the the performance at the high rpms.

This update is intended to be a solution for the costumer who use 100RON fuel and want to push the car at the limit.

Audi RS3 is well know to be very sensible at the quality of the fuel used to fill the tank. We detected noticeable power loss using 95RON gas compared to the 98RON even with the stock car, especially when the engine is pushed and the temperature rises.

Our new calibration gives more constancy of engine performance under stress conditions and even though the pick of power remains similar we avoid the 20hp power loss when the temperature of exhaust gas are too high.

The main benefit is the max speed increased to 305 km/h.

The Mercedes A45 AMG is the first car to receive our official stage2 kit. The kit include:

The downpipe is hand made, produced by a specialized artisan with the highest quality material. The results is a lightweight component which perfectly works in combination with our stage2 ECU tune.

The main benefits of the downpipe are the better power output at high rpm and the better reliability of the turbo as a consequence of the temperature drop.

The sound becomes sportier with exhaust burbles much more loud. The upshift sound  becomes louder giving a race car feeling.

The BMW i8 is the future of the sport cars. Its engine is hybrid system of  a 1.5 liter 3 cylinders turbocharged with 232hp and two electric motors on the front wheels.

The total power is 362hp and 500Nm of torque. We measured 356hp and 595Nm on the stock car.

The ECU upgrade makes the car more aggressive at high rpm with 28hp power increase and also he torque benefit of additional 50Nm.

The BMW M2 stage1 is now available.

The car fits the same N55 engine of the 35i models, recently updated with new B58 engine so probably this is the last N55 application on BMW range.

The stock car, tested on dyno, showed even better power and torque than BMW declared: 380hp and 500Nm.

The stage1 consists in piggy-back installation with specific BIESSE software calibration. We decided to go with the module instead of flashing the stock ECU because to modify it is necessary to dismount the whole intake system to extract the ECU and unlock it.
In case of BMW software update the process would have to be repeated again, so the external module is the best solution for stage1 purpose.

The performance increase takes the car in a different league of sport cars, with more than 420hp and 585Nm the M2 is ready to compete with M3/M4. The traction remains perfectly balanced and the rear tires can handle the power improvement without making the car too much difficult to drive.

The stage2 is coming soon and is projected for cars with full exhaust system and sport intake.

The stage1 for the new 1.3 MultiJet is now available ; this engine powers all the 2016 FIAT range with MJD9DF ECU.

The new calibration has been developed on a Panda 4×4 2015 1.3 Mtj 95hp. We detected 7hp more than declared power value from FIAT: 102hp and 220Nm of torque.

The software upgrade gives a strong torque improvement starting from 1700 rpm with over 50Nm over the stock curve. The power improvement is about 16hp at all engine speeds.

It is possible to benefit of a better fuel efficiency of 10%, compared to stock value, keeping the engine close to the peak of torque between 2000 and 3000 rpm.

The BIESSE Flasher is already available on all the 1.3 Mtj range.

The new Mercedes GLC 250d has the same 2 liters biturbo diesel engine already seen on the updated Mercedes range.

The stage1 calibration improves the low end torque starting from 1700 rpms, the benefit is a very smooth power delivery and better throttle response.

 

At the higher rpms the biturbo keep pulling well even stock but shows a slight drop around 3700 rpms, the modified software let to straighten the curve and get 30hp more.
